The West-Bengal Pogrom Doesn’t Concern The Radical Left Liberals. And It Shouldn’t
They were always what they have been after the Bengal Pogrom took place. Nothing Surprising.
After the completion of the assembly election of West Bengal, the political pundits thought the BJP most probably would emerge as the big mighty winner in the state election, which was spanned by eight phases of poll, the BJP had fielded big names from their intelligentsia, some were directly landed in West Bengal from Delhi, some were turncoats from the ruling TMC party, and what happened? The mighty BJP lost. Badly, though they increased their assembly seats from 3 to 77 seats, with a swing of 28.1% in their vote share, seats contested. This wasn't a big thing in front of the loss, but what followed was more gruesome than the loss. After the election results were declared people from the ruling TMC, and the opposition BJP attacked each other, the cadres of TMC tried to molest woman BJP workers, they successfully subdued 14 BJP workers, some of them were dragged out of their houses and lynched, some of them were stabbed to death, some of them were found in pool of blood, one BJP worker named Abhijit Sarkar was lynched to death by the TMC goons and his pet dogs were too killed before he succumbed to his injuries. Reports came from West Bengal picturised a grim situation in some parts of the state, reports told some women were gang raped before being killed, some social media handles claimed them to be fake but later came out to be true. One of the local reports say; an attempt was made to gang rape and murder a woman by poisoning, the incident leaves Khejuri (Purba Midnipore) in the boil. Tensions rise as locals come out in large numbers to protest—blocking roads and asking for justice. West Bengal police and Central Forces were called in to control the crowds. The woman known to locals as a BJP worker was raped on Tuesday following which an attempt on her life was made by poisoning her. Somehow the woman survived and was admitted in the local hospital. The following day tensions rise in the region as locals hit the street to protest the heinous act. These are only couple of incidents which barely tried to come out of West Bengal, there are countless stories of people being assaulted, maimed, chased to fields and being lynched to death. Some incidents against women, like the above mentioned one, are heinous on a level that writing it explicitly would make people nauseous, and disturbed. The NCW tried to investigate these incidents by going to ground zero and found that women are afraid to go back to their homes because of fear of being raped, their daughters are getting rape threats, thousands of people from north West Bengal were found to be running to neighbouring state of Assam to shelter themselves as many homes back in West Bengal were torched to ashes. This was a state–sponsored pogrom against the ones who had a different political leaning, and who chose to vote a different political party, Indian Democracy has failed them miserably.
The National Comission For Women took the notice of these incidents, and debunked the misinformation surrounding it. The propaganda around these incidents, and the broad daylight killings of BJP members were brushed off as fake and misinformation, by the ruling TMC's propaganda cell on Twitter and various social media platforms, TMC minister Derek O'Brien and Mohua Moitra shrugged off the killings and questioned why would a winning side kill their political opponents when they have been given a mandate in its favor? The ground realities were totally different, the media reports tell us a different story. Temples were vandalized which were used as a homestead by some BJP workers, the shops owned by the BJP members, and those who voted BJP were looted, and desecrated by the commoners of ruling TMC, some reports even say the neighbours of those who voted the BJP assaulted them. The central government had sent a special team which investigated the incidents, and found some of them to be true, the MHA team is still investigating some of the incidents, which saw heinous crimes like rapes and murders. The liberals from the TMC side did everything to discredit the violence perpetrated on BJP workers, by the ruling TMC, from outright lies against the murders to even justifying the acts, and later impersonating some social media users, the Left used the propaganda method of Agitprop as meticulously as they could. Agitprop, abbreviated from Russian agitatsiya propaganda (agitation propaganda), political strategy in which the techniques of agitation and propaganda are used to influence and mobilize public opinion. How they proceeded?
1) A bunch of highly influential people, consisting of celebrities, journalists, and writers, started a narrative telling people that everything related to Bengal Violence is fake as some of it came up to be dubious later on.
2) Paid trolls, and party associates created new social media accounts impersonating RWs and deliberately spread fake news about Bengal Violence, putting fake riot pictures from an old event.
3) Later, the influential people share that narrative as a gospel truth about Bengal Violence, fact checking them, and rendering everything as fake and communal.
4) Propaganda, created by the left, for the left, to the left, somehow gets associated with the RW, and later gets discredited as fake by those paid influential people.
People oftentimes ask me why our ideological counterparts aren’t emphatic about the killings of BJP workers in states like West Bengal, & Kerala. And I ask them did you expect anything better? Always remember, these are a lot who throw around words like pogrom, fascism, and nazism, like it’s a children’s toy, meant to play around with grace. These are a lot who didn’t bat an eye on mass killings of RWringers in beef–belt states of Kerala, West Bengal, and the Northeast. Nope. These are a lot who love to gloss over classical liberal values of “don’t do unto others what others won’t do to you”, mind you, they absolutely love when people from their political faction dies in cold blood, their condemnations are followed by a 'but' and an essay on why the Right was silent when one of their imaginary pogroms happened, or when dozens of Riots took place in West Bengal but there was no Hindutva group ruling it so it had a free pass for deaths and destruction. The victims of riots were left without any state compensation, their homes were brought down to ashes, most of them were Dalits, a group liberals love to make a victim out of. This is a lot who love to accuse others of false accusations, and incarcerations on the basis of their political ideology; courtesy Sudha Bhardwaj, Stan Swamy, & Varavara Rao, and Co. But absolutely loves it, bends over backward, accusing Modi & Pragya of terrorism when one has been clearly acquitted, and one is acquitted in one case and facing another case but on bail. This is a lot who loves to use the Anti–Fascist dictionary and vocabulary, while simultaneously backing anti-liberty, anti-women, & anti-LGBTQ legislation of Article 370, & 35A. These are a lot who celebrate the deaths of armed forces by the hands of Gandhians with guns, the Maoists in Naxalism affected areas, and terrorists in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. These are the same lot who preach over the values like tolerance, and free speech but never in their good faith ever tried to preach over the incident of Bengali author Taslima Nasreen being harassed by radicals, and being shunned out of West Bengal was an issue for them, why should they pretend, when that’s exactly what they stand for? I’ve stopped listening. I don’t even pretend. I don’t give a flying fuck.
